Planning a family getaway? Mushara Bush Camp is the number one child-friendly lodge in Namibia. Here are five reasons why you should add Mushara Bush Camp to your family bucket list.
1. Mushara Bush Camp is child-friendly
Situated just outside of the Etosha National Park – Namibia’s leading big-game reserve – Mushara Bush Camp is one of the few child-friendly lodges in the area. The camp accommodates 32 adults and 8 children in custom made tent-like structures.
Complimentary child-minders and a kiddies pool make entertaining the little ones a breeze at Mushara Bush Camp. The main house even features a special play area for children where books, games, toys, drawing utensils and creative games keep children busy between game drives.
When staying at the main bush camp, your days can be spent relaxing amongst the peaceful bush surroundings or exploring Etosha National Park, while in the early evenings a campfire is lit where you can exchange stories of the day’s wildlife sightings.
2. Friendly child-minders
At Mushara, complimentary child-minders are available to look after your kiddos when you need a break, or if they are too young to join you on a game drive.
Our staff are on-hand to arrange awesome activities for the little ones that include, creative arts & craft sessions, outdoor games and indoor play on rainy days – all with age-appropriate interaction. For very small children, our child-minders will ensure they are fed, well cared for and have their naps while you are out on a game drive.
The Mushara Bush Camp is the ideal family destination. Situated on the doorstep to the magical Etosha National Park, Mushara is your gateway to an incredible bush experience in Namibia.
3. Affordable and authentic luxury accommodation
Best described as a down-to-earth tented bush camp experience, The Mushara Bush Camp offers an affordable base for families exploring the magical Etosha Pan National Park.
The 16 custom made en-suite tents, built from a combination of canvas, wood and local limestone, each has their own 8m squared private verandah and roof to floor windows. The rooms are spacious and built with brushed cement floors and stone walls that keep them cool in the afternoon sun. Four of these tents are ideally suited for families with small children as they have a sleeper couch for two children plus an additional bed for an older child.

4. April is the ideal time to visit The Etosha National Park
Still lovely and quiet in beautiful Etosha, April is the perfect time to plan a family holiday to Mushara. Because of the changing seasons, evenings and early mornings are cooling down which makes for comfortable game viewing. The herds should have started to move back towards the central areas by the end of the month and the landscape is still lush and green with clear skies. Wildlife is in peak condition at this time of year and plenty of babies can be seen. For twitchers, April is also a great time for birding as it is migrant season.
5. The ultimate Easter hunt! Can you find the Mushara Easter bunny?
Better known as the Cape Hare, this elusive little rabbit runs faster than almost all of its predators – except the cheetah! – and its well-developed little legs make leaping and running a breeze. With its large ears and big eyes, this Etosha easter bunny is hard to spot so make sure you pack your binos for your family holiday to Mushara this April.
